NB1 - unbroken in the top

Our women's basketball team is the flagship of the association, and we have been in the championship every year since the first season in 1964. We've been at the top, we've been a big team - the opening years of the nineties were marked by league wins and cup victories. One year after losing the 1989-1990 championship final in controversial circumstances, we reached the top in the 1990-1991 season with a double: a Hungarian championship gold medal and a Hungarian Cup victory. The team was led to success by university students, led by a living legend of Hungarian basketball, Judit Balogh.

Today, we are a small team again, but our path and our credo have remained unbroken since the beginning: we are the only Hungarian team to profess the unbreakable unity of sport and learning. Over the years, we have welcomed countless young people who have embraced this path, who have proven themselves week after week at the highest level of the game, while studying at high school and later at university, and who have gone on to become key players for major teams and members of the Hungarian national team.

BEAC Újbuda National Accredited Basketball Academy

Our department has been operating as an Academy since 2013, and we are proud to be one of the first to be awarded the National Accredited Basketball Academy title in January 2018. More than 200 children in different age groups are competing in our junior workshop. The aim of our post-graduate education is twofold: to provide opportunities for regular sporting activities and to develop players who will be ready to compete at the highest level when they reach adulthood. We believe that the key issue in the junior age groups is not which of our teams finishes in the top ten, but rather how many of our players become committed to basketball.

We are present in the most important schools in the district, with our most populous workshop at the Grosics Gyula Catholic Sports Elementary School for many years. When the situation allows, we visit the district kindergartens with our top players, donating balls and sports equipment for joint games, because we believe that education for sport and a healthy lifestyle starts at an early age.

Our adult teams

Our department has several adult teams, which are promoting the reputation of our association in the Budapest championships, with many former famous players and national team basketball players, while our men's team represents the university and the association in the NBII championship.

Our men's basketball team welcomes anyone who wants to get some exercise, play sports, or just be part of a good community. During preparation, we also focus on strength and conditioning, tactical fundamentals, and building team unity that will last the entire year. During the year, in addition to training sessions and matches, you can take part in many sports programmes, such as the university B33 championship.

Our women's university team has been among the top four in the championship every time in recent years, with gold, silver and bronze medals for ELTE girls in the MEFOB finals. We welcome all those interested in basketball!

If you have played basketball before and want to continue playing for the university during your university years, then you are welcome to join the MEFOB team! If you just want to try something new, you can still play with us. We also provide training sessions where you can come at any time, whatever your skill level.
